My boy is, no

by Kaitlyn Singer

My boy is, no
A man, actually
With a selfishly-destructively beautiful mind
Specs of doubting laced inside
His softest face, like unshaven hair,
Like he doesn’t care.
My man is a boy, trapped beneath
No, above
His lowest expectations
Like bark woven into jewelry
It probably wouldn’t fit
Anyway.
My One was right,
or, wrong
About everything he believes
Like the talent dripping from his eyes
That actually
Isn’t there.
Still,
Forcing all to knees.
Mine is oblivious to, yes
Love.
But this manboyone
Mine, is wildeyed
Mountainous
And was is
Will be
Alive.
