I Want to be Your Breakfast

by Hyacinth Wallace

You've got hunger pangs of a serious malnutrition
but just lie back, I’m licensed dietician...
I want you to be tantalized by this primeval intoxication
that you've had since your conception.
I want you to cry aloud when you need me
like a baby needs its feeding
lips smacking, tongue twisting, hands groping...
I don't think you fully understand.
Allow me to reiterate my "when the sun rises" demand
I want to be your breakfast
that you slept in for
and just because it’s late you've got a mean craving for-
nutrients you can't find at your local corner store
won't find me in the specialty aisle
This is a home cooked meal with nothin’ but an apron and six inch heels on style!
I want to be your eternal first taste
after you break fast and
Thank God fast before you take your first bite-
Savor It!
Because I want to be your fruit, eggs, and grits
Bacon or Sausage- hell both! Take your pick!
Your dairy and vitamin C! Your sun kissed ripened strawberries
and if even if you don't like it, you'll love this good to the last drop fresh brewed coffee
a combination of sweet toffee cream and a rich Kenyan blend...
Oh baby! Don’t drink it too fast
go slow and rise like steam
I'll get your heart racing
and keep you up like caffeine.
I'm light on your stomach but I’m all you need.
Warm syrup and melted butter
poured on two pancakes of perfect batter!
Start your day off with this over flowing platter
I just want you to fill up on me
take in all you need
Don't bother washing the dishes baby...
Just lick the plate clean
